Before you bid on an auction, it's in your best interest to do a little research. Try to learn more about the seller,
and about the value of the item you want to buy.
Here are some suggestions on what to do before bidding:
- Find similar items that are currently for sale by searching for the title or item name.
You might find the same item at a better price or offered by a seller with a higher rating.
- Always check the seller's rating before bidding. Click on the number in parentheses next to
the seller's Yahoo! ID. Look closely at negative feedback by
clicking on "details" under the negative number on the ratings page. This will help you decide if you want to do business with a particular seller.

- Before you bid, don't hesitate to question the seller if you're unclear about details of the item on the "Question & Answer" section of the item page. Or read questions that other bidders have asked.
- Send the seller an instant message. If they are online, you'll see the "I'm Online" icon under "Seller Info" on the
item page :
- Visit relevant Yahoo! Canada Clubs or search our Member Directory
to meet people with similar interests and get tips on auction shopping.
